I have thought of doing inlay or banding on some projects, but have not gotten one of those magical round tuits.

So FWW's email came today with a teaser about a French banding maker that went into bankruptcy in the 1930s, Buffard Freres.

There are a few links in the article that lead to some interesting sites.

FWW article. (http://finewoodworking.taunton.com/item/7075/inlay-banding-and-buffard-freres)

Another link with lots of pictures and information. (http://phidesign.ca/category/bfreres/)

I think Lee Valley had some of that banding for a while - they bought it out of storage. Probably sold out by now.

You can always make your own. And it's a whole lot more fun to say "I made it" than "I bought it". :D

OMG that is insane Jameel! That's some really cool inlay! Jim if you ever find one of those round tuits I need one or half of one myself.

What really bugs me is that all the modern inlay banding is made out of thin layers of stacked veneers. Very nice,Jameel!. You can make it if you don't mind cutting up a LOT of exotic woods, most of which gets made into sawdust.
