Good evening to all who are sliding down this slope
I am asking for advice on reading material on designing, laying out and cutting dovetail joints. I appreciate the videos, etc., resources but as an engineer I rather read the resource.

PS. Last week I could not respond to a fellow woodworker because I was late in renewing my contribution! The small contribution needed is a drop in the bucket to what you will benefit....advice, friendship, photos and the list goes on

Get "the Complete Dovetail" by Ian Kirby

All the data us engineers dote on.

But, Joe, dont fall into the trap of thinking it is the magic joint - look behind the curtain and realize that it is just layout and cutting to the line.

Mike

I appreciate your responses. Chris, I read through and printed your referenced material. The mirror suggestion makes sense but my wife was home so I could not "borrow" her mirrors today. Mike, "the Complete Dovetail" by Ian Kirby is now on my wish list.
I cut a large half blind dovetail today to tie the right end cap to the front piece of my new workbench. A lot of work but still good fun and practice.
Thanks again. joe Katzenberger
