Been having trouble getting to that place where my edges are better than just OK. Started using green compound with a little oil on a granite stone for my last step.
Now that's sharp!!! YUMMY!!!
Also getting better at freehand working the edges and that's filling without the empty calories.

You think that's good you should try it on some MDF! First you get a dab of Vaseline or mineral oil and rub it into the surface of the MDF. Then you scribble a couple lines with the Green Honing compound "crayon". Now hone away. But be careful, you get a SHARP edge!

I use a 6" wheel made from mdf on the low speed grinder for honing. Just put the compound on the side and go to town on it. It only takes a few seconds on each side and you're back to making shavings.

Hey Dominic,
I remember you posting this before. Why would MDF be better than just putting the compound on granite? Do you think that MDF has an abrasive quality that helps? I think I remember George Wilson used newspaper and a bit of spit when he was just a kid.:D
Same principle?
