Revised proposed chariot plane

Here is a revised sketch of the proposed chariot plane.This shows how the wooden stuffing and the wedge would be rounded to give the plane more contours as seen from all angles. The rear end of the plane would also be rounded,including the sole,to give a softer feel when pushing the plane. The wedge in the front has been made thinner so that the cross pin can be in the appropriate position in relation to the contours of the body.

What was the use of these small planes generaly?

They were used in the same way as block planes.Possibly in coach work,though I can't see why anyone needing a small plane wouldn't use one.
