I had a nasty catch when just about finished with this bowl. Actually had two separate gouges near the rim. So, I decided to just cut three grooves to hide the mess and fill it in with the only thing I had on hand at the time..... Elmers wood filler . I slapped the Elmers to it and let it dry over night and then chucked it up and sanded it down.

Darn thing won't win any artistic awards, but it was saved and it will hold liquids :D.

Simply Brilliant!!! I never would've thought of using glue. I'm laughing about it but it looks great. Way cool!!

Hey Dewey.... never thought of it that way....that's too funny! a "paste-like" inlay :D. Not exactly up to the standard of your stunning "real" inlay work. Thanks for the laugh!

Don't sell it short so fast. I may try this on one of my future works. Inlay can be any medium and those who dare to try inlaying different and usual materials are sometimes rewarded with one of a kinds... like your bowl!

Terry - that works! I like the way the 3 different widths to the lines draw your eyes up to the opening of the bowl. Great looking wood and finish! If you wouldn't have said anything about using a filler to repair damaged - would have never guessed it! Nice work and thanks for sharing!

I actually really like the contrast it gives. It just "jazzes" up the simple form of the bowl a little bit. Very cool.
