I believe the wagon is the type used to haul borax in the deserts of the West. They required 40 mules. When I was young,I was able to see one of these in Arizona,still sitting in the dry climate out there. It had tires that must have been at least 10" or 12" wide,to not sink into the sand.

At that time,1957,the water tasted like dishwater until we got across the Mississippi river. There was no escape from it. The soft drinks were bottled in Phoneix,IIRC,and they still tasted of borax. Back then,there was no such thing as bottled water.

You just haven't lived till you've toured the Borax museum in Boron, CA. I did some work at Edwards AFB for about 4 months and you have to search for something to do out there after awhile ;-)
