This is my first time for everything but the box. Box and sewing kit are from pallet wood, which turned out to be wormy spalted maple. The box is from a branch collar or crotch. The box is 1-7/8 x 2-3/4 and the sewing kit is 1-1/8 x 6-7/8 - too big to be useful, I realized too late.

The stopper is Russian Olive, about 1-3/8 x 2-5/8, and the spoon is Osage Orange, 2 x 11-3/8.

I moved my photo set-up to a room with no windows. (Thanks, Jamie). I'm still using the butcher paper back drop (see wrinkles) and I have one direct light on the right and one light reflected off white paper on the left. Both lights are filtered through 2" white fiberglass furnace filters. I started with 100w sort white incandescent bulbs, but switched to 60w. I think I'll switch back to 100w, because the auto focus is having trouble. I clearly have a long way to go in the photo department, as well as with the turnings.

Thanks for looking. Comments, criticisms and suggestions for improvement appreciated.

Very nice work. How did you turn the pig?

I hand carved the pig from a solid block of plastic with a box cutter, then airbrushed the finish and sewed the kerchief with the sewing kit. I just didn't mention it because this is the turner's forum.

Doug-move the main light on the R side forward to about a 45 degree angle, and this will put more light toward the front of your pieces. It will also even out the light falling on the background, making the images more uniformly shaded from side to side, and place the shadows more toward the back rather than front.

I stopped at the dog...it is just beautiful!! I'm sure the other stuff is great too, but I have a soft spot in my heart for boxes...great wood too!

I am always impressed by the skill and talent of our members but I'm wondering if a plastic pig carved with a box cutter is pulling our leg a bit too far? Is this April 1st? I'll go along with the kerchief and the sewing kit but the pig is just too much to bite on.

Cheers,
David

I'm a big fat liar. People seemed to like the pig best.
