Does anyone have a source for architectual model foam? My daughters class is designing a building in CAD and I offered to cut out the model in the laser. I love to help out at the school and get kids interested in design. Hopefully out of all the kids I have worked with at least one will get into the design field.

Thanks,
Wil

Hi Wil, You can find suppliers by doing a search for RenShape.

Another good resource I use is www.depronusa.com and www.rcfoam.com

I use a lot of this material when prototyping and modeling for the UAV guys around here.

I'm not sure how well your laser will cut it, but your local home improvement store (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.) should carry dow-corning 'fan-fold' foam. It's pink foam 1/4" thick. This may or may not be too thick for your use.

I've purchased from www.depronusa.com (http://www.depronusa.com) and my product arrived well packaged, so that's a second recomendation for them. I didn't laser cut what I bought, but their service is good.

Also http://www.airdyn.com/ carries both Depron and 'Zepron' foam. It's also a reputable supplier.

If you have air assist you'll find that it helps a lot in getting a clean cut (from my very limited foam cutting experience with a friend's laser)
