I'm planning to build my own Kreg Klamp Table, a little bit bigger than the one Kreg sells. I've looked into buying the Klamp Trak (T-Track) from Kreg, but as far as I can tell they only sell it in one length, 33 3/4", and it's pretty pricy, $45. The table I'm going to mount it around is 24 X 48, so I'd like to find something that will work sold in 48" lengths. This company sells what appears to be sturdy T-track http://www.ttrackusa.com/track_%20systems.htm but I'm not sure if the Kreg Bench Klamps will fit in it. Is anyone using Kreg's bench klamps in anything except Kreg track?

Dave,

Call or Email Kreg and ask them about custom lengths. I bet you can get it.

Dave,

You might want to consider 80/20 aluminum extrusions. They can be had in up to 20' lengths, though it is sold as cutoffs on their evilBay store. For instance, here is a 53" piece of 1.5" wide x 3/4" thick track for $9.00:

http://cgi.ebay.com/80-20-T-Slot-Aluminum-Extrusion-15-S-1534-L-x-53-44-SC_W0QQitemZ220285250344QQihZ012QQcategoryZ29402QQ tcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

I don't know how the fasteners would match up, but I'm sure you could make it work.

If for some reason, you cannot get the link to open, their store is the 8020 Inc Garage Store.

Thanks Guys. I just traded a few emails with a Kreg Product Support Specialist. Kreg Klamp Trak is Only sold in 33 3/4 " lengths. No custom lengths sold. He also said the Kreg Klamps would fit standard 3/8" Bolt T-Track but that since standard t-Track isn't reinforced he didn't think it would stand up to the clamping presure. It would take me at least 3 pieces of Kreg trak to build the table, and it just doesn't seem right to spend $135 for it.

That is too bad for Kreg; looks like they lost a customer. I wonder why they can't sell longer lengths?

I recently contacted Incra about their rails because I wanted some custom sizes (like 3 26" pieces) and they were: "No problem, it is $x/foot and there is a small cutting charge." After some back and forth, we determined that for my needs, the best bang for the buck would be to simply buy a 72" rail and cut it myself. As it turned out, I wasn't totally sure about the sizes of the rail I will want. The rail was $50 and $13.72 to ship it to me out here in the SF Bay Area. They also have 96" rails that, I think, are $75 a pop. The 96ers are a little more expensive per foot and will cost more to ship.

Too bad it didn't go like that with you for Kreg. I wonder if Incra rail would work for you? Why don't you email mark@incra.com and ask him.

Hi Dave. Woodpeck.com has a DP track that is similar to the Kreg, cheaper too. If you want something more HD, they offer a Super Track. Both tracks are good quality. Hope this helps. http://www.woodpeck.com/media/icon_dptrack.gif (http://www.woodpeck.com/dptrack.html)

Unfortunately the Incra and Woodpecker tracks are built to handle standard 1/4" hex head nuts, and the Kreg Klamps require the larger 3/8" size. It's always something.

Dave.... Just installed the Kreg track on my outfeed table just recently. Got the track from Amazon for $28 and change and the Vice grip's of a Mac tool truck for $10 each. The Vice grips are the same as the kreg but have Mac tools stamped into them. Its works very well just spent some time getting it perfectly square.

For sure whatever alloy they use is way tougher than any other aluminum t-track product I've used. I swear I've cut angle iron with less effort.

Just wanted to say that I recently picked up some Klamp Track from Kreg and built it into a new outfeed table. I never really thought about asking for custom lengths. I just made the table work around the track length. Good idea though. :)

Anyway, the table is working very good so far. The Klamp track, plate, clamps, etc. all work really well together. I wish I could afford to buy several more of the klamp plates to put in the center of the table!!! Very solid stuff.

Back when Phil Adams was alive (owner of Jointech), I would call after hours and brainstorm on different jigs I was thinking of building. Several times he either fabricated or custom cut a part to match what I was looking for. The deal was I had to send a picture.

This is how right thinking customers not only satisfy their customers, it can be a great source for new product ideas.

Dave,
Like the other post said, go to 80/20 on Ebay and pick up their track, it is as heavy or heavier than Kreg's. I will try to post pics of what I did, (thrown together without much thought) it sounds similar to what you are tryig to do and it works great.
As far as the clamps go, I used Kreg, but fitted a 3/8 caraage bolt int he bottom and it fits the 80/20 track.

OK, Here is the other info we need. You can call Kreg at 1-800-447-8638 and order part number NK7568. It is $2.56 and includes the round head screw for the bottom of the clamp, the nylon glide sticker for the bottom of the clamp, and the rubber cover for the head of the clamp. Thanks again Robyn for the clamp info.

I hope Kreg farms out that rail and that they only receive it at their sites in shorter lengths. If they actually have it longer and won't sell it simply because they don't know how (don't have a code or transaction for it) that would be sad.

I would be tempted to call back and ask where they get it since they don't have any longer pieces to sell you. I guarantee you it isn't manufactured their length so somebody's got it. I'll bet you don't even care if its blue.

Glenn, Glenn, Glenn!! It's GOT to be blue, Man...gotta be!!! ;) haha

I was told today that they receive it from someone else (guy thought I was asking about the track not the clamp). I should have asked more questions about the track.

Reviving an old thread...

What 8020 extrusion is recommended for use with Kreg Klamps (10S, 30S, ???)?

Not sure about the clamps fitting--I'd think any would work--but I don't believe that any of the 80/20 extrusions are the same width as the Kreg extrusions. This matters if you want to use the spacers that are part of the Kreg system that rotate different ways to center the clamps on the stock.

I sprang for the Kreg track and while it was expensive, I'm happy with the result.
