After several hesitations, Jake and I began cutting up the Bubinga. The Couch/Entry Hall Table will be the first project. I intend to submit it in a local furniture design/build contest at a local store. I will use a jigsaw to cut out the pieces needed for the table and leave the rest for later. I already know where the pieces for the coffee table will come from (the other board's live edge)

I am getting ready to purchase a 2hp cyclone DC system. Looking at the Grizzly and Oneida units. Wondering if anyone can give me any pros and/or cons on either of these DC products. Any comments would be welcomed.

After completing the Cherry Blanket Chest for our bedroom, I began planning the different projects for the Bubinga. I need at least 3 heirloom projects to come out of this wood.

Board # 1
1.Live Edge Coffee Table (Takishima Style) This will use up the live edge of one of the board. This leaves a board about 7/8 x 13 x 110.

2. ??.....Display cabinet ...not sure yet.

I'm off finishing LOML's Cherry Blanket Chest and a hundred other "Honey Do's" While I'm doing that, I will be finding a local source with a drum sander that does 30" wide. I figure that I will get started making the first cut in February or so

On December 23, my family gave me the birthday gift of 2 slabs of Waterfall Bubinga. I was stunned! With this blog, I intend to document the thought/learning process of working with such an extraordinary gift.
