Jack, I spray alot ofllacquer from rattle cans. I like high luster smooth finishes. With porous woods a filler is needed, sometimes I use epoxie for filler. Wet sanding is a must for leveling multiple coats of finish. I have found that spraying lacquer on hot dry days is not productive, the stuff sets up too quickly and will not level out. I prefer to spray on damp wet days, the material flows much better. So far, I've had no trouble with the finish blushing do to moisture. This time of year I carry room temperature spray cans of lacquer and wood to finished to an unheated shop for spraying. I spray before the wood or cans of finish cool. As soon as the finish sets, i carry the pieces back into the warmth of the house. Most of what I have written you is contrary to popular believes about finish, but I find that it works for me.
