Sounds a little like our family. My grande father came from Romania in the 20's and their orginal name was Furhman, but the records keeper here in Canada going it all messed up and some grandpas brothers became Forman, some Furman, and others Furhman.
Hi Darcy---Wish I could claim you as a long lost relative, but my great grandfather apparently picked the name arbitrarily upon arriving in the US at the tender age of 14. A lot of immigrants did that in order to "fit in" more easily. Dan
