Pulled the trigger on the new G0766 22 x 42 lathe this morning. I am looking forward to getting it in and set up and get my first projects off it. I am just a bit pumped!

Will share my experiences with this new unit when I can, so stay tuned!

Congrats Roger! I did the same today online instead of the G0733. Can't wait for arrival. Happy New Year!

Roger did you have to get up early to order that lathe because Christmas had passed & Santa brought you a lump of coal?

Crongrats... I don't know that I'd turn anything bigger than on the 18" lathe but the extra HP would be great to have. Do you think the banjo looks heavy enough? Lets see hoe it compares to the one you already have.

Bart, on the pic that was posted the angle made the banjo look smaller than I believe it is. On Grizzly's page on this new model there are other views, and one of them shows the banjo a bit better and it looks bigger with the lathe turned toward the camera from that angle than the other one.

Lump of coal, Bart? Why I have been so good, that all the gifts my family gave me over the last 6 moths, I pooled together to buy this new Grizzly monster!

Wife say's what would you like for your birthday Steve? I said well, a new lathe wouldn't hurt. Birthday was January 2nd, Ordered the GO766 on Jan. 5th and now got to wait til April, but that's ok...I'm ok. Im just a bit pumped to Roger LOL

Congrats on the lathe, Steve........I believe all of us who get one will be happy with it. The specs and the price sure look good, and the size is bigger than a 3520b, so we should be able to turn fairly large pieces on it. I will add some ballast to mine with the addition of a shelf on the legs. I am not sure if the G0766 is machined to metric dimensions like the G0733 and G0698 were, but if so, the hole for the tool rest in the banjo will have to be enlarged to accept aftermarket tool rests with a one inch post. The metric dimension on the G0733 was 25mm which is just under an inch. Keep in touch if you have any issues.....some of us Grizz owners know how to get everything fitting right!

It is 25mm also. Here is the spec sheet for the G0766. http://www.grizzly.com/compare?categ...&preload=G0766

I really like the looks of this new Grizzly Lathe and placed my order on Jan 7. One thing that looks strange to me is the length of the lathe -- 81 inches. That seems sort of long for a 42 spindle capability. I notice that the Go733 is about the same length though. I measured the length of the ways on my Delta 16/42 and it is only 54 inches. Why is the Grizzly 31 inches longer?
