A quick hello from a new group member. My name is John Cargill and I live in Elkton, Maryland. I've been turning on a small Grizzly (model 5979) since about 2002. Tired of the size limitations for bowls/platters and the weak 1/2 hp motor, I made the leap a couple of months ago and ordered the new G0766, like many of you. I have a long lineup of blanks ready to turn that are just too big for my current setup. I hope the new machines get off the boat soon ! I look forward to being a part of the GGMG. I'll post pics of some of my recent work soon.
Welcome to the GGMG John! I think this lathe will prove to be a real alternative to the PM3520b........I think you will be glad you made the move , when it arrives.........I am wishing for smooth sailing across the ocean and hopefully, no more delays from the factory!!!
Welcome to the group John. Red
Thanks guys
Welcome aboard John. I'm pretty new to wood turning and have learned a lot from this forum. There are a lot of very knowledgeable and talented people on here. Congrats on your new lathe, hopefully they will arrive soon. I'm not as patient as you and some of the other guys and opted to purchase the available G0733 instead. I do think the G0766 will be a better lathe at a better price though. If the G0766 lathe is anywhere as good as my lathe it will be one fine machine! My 733 is a pleasure to use, smooth, quiet, and with plenty of power. I don't regret my purchase one bit.
Welcome, John!
