As of late, especially with the new G0766 lathe arriving in many of our workshops, we have gained some new members. This is good, as this corner of SMC gives us a place where we can discuss issues related to our lathes and Grizzly machinery. We ask that when you join, just introduce yourself to the group with a post about where you are located and what types of wood working you do...........nothing elaborate, just a little bit of "get to know you" stuff.

Feel free to post some of your work in the gallery section [be reasonable, and only two or three at a time ]

And last of all, we want to welcome each of you to the Grizzly Green Monster Group [GGMG] and are glad to have you aboard!

Just joined the GGMG group. Ordered and received my GO 766 about 2 months ago. Very happy with it. I ordered a Robust long post tool rest and it is much better than the original. I live in Northern Virginia and belong to the Catoctin Area Turners club. A special thanks to David Roseman for his help and guidance with GO 766 setup, initial operation, and pointing me to this group.

Welcome to the GGMG, Peter.....glad to have you aboard! Yep, that G0766 is quite a lathe. and I have to warn you.....watch out for that David Roseman guy! No really, David has been quite a help to a number of people.......myself included! He's one of those who can honestly wear the white hat! I am located not too far down the road from you, in the Shenandoah Valley area.

I am new to this group and have just ordered my G0766. I live near Cabo san Lucas Mexico and I am one of the few wood turners in the area. Looking forward to some fun with the new lathe. Lynn

I don't think I ever introduced myself. I live in Lowell, MA, which is about 45 minutes north west of Boston. I do whatever kind of woodworking. I like it all. I have had the G0766 since July, but I still haven't had the opportunity to turn on it.

The most recent project I just completed is a triangular flag case for a good friend who's father died. Made out of cherry using a set of plans I found on the internet, it was also the most complex project. The perfectionist in me doesn't like a lot of how it turned out, but it is quit functional, and the imperfections are not glaring. I did learn a bit while building it, so hopefully I can improve for my next project, which is building a simple platform bed.

The woodworking styles that I am drawn to are classic and ornate. I really like the works of Carlo Bugatti, as well as Eastlake, Baroque, Victorian, and Neo-Gothic styles, and the Aesthetic movement.

Glad to have you aboard the GGMG, Klaus! When you ever do get time to fire up that 0766, post some pics of your first projects on it!

Please post pics of the flag case. I have to make one for my Fathers's flag with room for all of his service medals. I have leftover oak T&G oak flooring I planned to use, but not sure if it'll be deep enough. Congrats on the Lathe - we're in the same boat - I will fire mine up tonight after having it 6 weeks.
