Chuck shim for G0766?

Hi all ... I've been getting some wobble on my G0766 using Hurricane 125 chucks. At first I thought that the insert(s) may not be seating properly so off they came; cleaned everything; re-seated ... and no change. Steve Fulgoni suggested that I may need to shim the spindle shoulder since the insert may be "bottoming out" before contacting the shoulder for support.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what thickness shim has worked for you? I have no problem getting a precision ground arbor shim but really don't want to buy a few of the wrong ones before finding whatever works ... assuming that it's even the problem!

    TIA!

most of us have had to file down the small shoulder behind he threads a tad bit so that our non- grizzly chucks will srew back to the base of the spiindle---lots of threads on here describing the procedure

I use Hurricane chucks and SuperNova2 chucks on my G0766. Both run true, and I have another HTC 100 on order at this moment. The seating may not be good on your insert. Did you tighten the screws in sequence, one or two turns at the most, going around, or did you just tighten each screw down? If you do not sequence the tightening one or two turns at a time then you will induce wobble, because your insert will not be plumb to the chuck body.
