My Grizzly 0766 was delivered today. Opened up the box and unbolted everything. Got the legs out and then realized there was no way I was going to be able to lift and carry the bed and head stock. I posted on Facebook offering to pay for help. The mother of one of my former students responded and said her husband and 2 boys were already on the way to my house. What a nice thing to do. Got the bed put on the legs. Got 6 of the bolts in, but 2 on one end are giving me trouble. Will work on them again tomorrow if I don't work. It looks like they are lined up, but don't seem to want to screw in. Other than that I am pleased with the lathe. It is pretty big. I rearranged things in my small shop (9' x 30') and moved a couple of items on wheels (planer and Leigh dovetail jig) into the man cave where they can be stored and moved back into the shop when needed.

For one of my 8 bolts attaching the bed to the legs, there was some casting flashing in the way. It kept the bolt from screwing in to the leg. The problem wasn't on the leg, but it was on the lathe bed. There was just enough flashing that it made the bolt try to go sideways and it wouldn't go in. I had to drill it out. There wasn't a lot of flashing in the way, so it went fast. Then everything went together.

You need to figure out if it is the bed or the leg that is giving you a problem. If it is the leg, then you'll need to "chase" the leg with a tap. According to the parts list, it is an M10-1.5 - - a fairly common metric tap. An alternative (if it is the leg), is to have Griz send you a new leg or a tap (and handle).

Congrats on the 0766, Micheal! Brice gives you some good advice. Mine went together without problems, but casting flashing can interfere or simple paint down into the threads......a tap of the correct size and a little lubricant will do wonders.
