    The One Stone Challenge

    Thread Starter: David Weaver

Maybe more of a challenge for everyone else, I've pretty much been following it already. But by the one stone challenge, I mean picking one stone (that you already have) that you will use for your entire sharpening process, and using it for everything (all of your planes, all of your chisels)....

    Living "Off the Grid"

    Thread Starter: Rich Riddle

I have a friend who believes he lives "off the grid" though he does have electricity. He lacks a phone and water. Today is tax day and he hasn't filed in nearly a decade. Of course, he doesn't earn enough to file. Lives on a small "farm" where he piddles around and doesn't get much accomplished. In...

Very Super Cool Table Saw Fence...

    Thread Starter: Derek Arita

Any have or are familiar with the Very Super Cool Tools table saw fence? Saw the Wood Whisperer do a little vid on them, so I took a look at the web site. Looks really neat. It's supposed to be dead flat, adjustable and versatile. I'd love to hear some feedback from someone who uses one.

    A Set of Saws

    Thread Starter: Eric Gracka

Hello All: You've all been asked this question before, numerous times, and accordingly I apologize. Times change & so do woodworking tools, in particular saws. Which saws would you recommend for an aged woodworker (started wood working in 1990, but work & children got the better of me - I am...

Help matching this Pottedy Barn finish...

    Thread Starter: Michael Dunn

Hey guys! As detailed in another thread I'm building a large 'built-in' solid hickory shelving unit. My client wants to match the finish of his desk. I believe the desk is oak with some sort of walnut or brown mahogany type stain. I had my client come out to the shop and see some samples over...

    Digital versus hard copy

    Thread Starter: Moses Yoder

I kind of prefer the digital world. Okay, for some books that would be sacrilege, like Krenov or Nakashima, but most everything I do nowadays is on my lap top. I have a good but relatively cheap HP laptop with 4 gig memory 750 gig HDD with a 2.4 Ghz Core I3 processor, Windows 8.1. All of my music...

Do you have woodworking knowledge you're just dying to share?
Want to be an author at Sawmill Creek?

Now you have a new area to publish articles!

If you want to publish an article, you can join our authors group, which gives you access to a forum which is open only to would-be authors at SawmillCreek. This is a staging area for new articles, where you can post a new article, and we'll review for publication. Once you're ready to publish it, we'll promote it on the front page of SawmillCreek!

    The process is simple:

    1. Join the Authors group by visiting this page.
    2. Once you have access, visit the Authors forum.
    3. Start your article by creating a new thread in that forum.

    TIPS

If your article is too long for a single post, don't fret ! Spread your article over multiple posts, and we'll merge them together into a single post when the article is ready to be published.

Try posting pictures inline for visual interest.

Choose a catchy, yet descriptive title!

    Writer's Block?

We're looking for tool reviews, woodworking tips, woodturning techniques, jigs and fixtures, finished projects step-by-step, finishing techniques, social woodworking experiences, and even good compilations of our existing thread topics.

    Good luck and Happy writing!
