Chinese laser purchase/Shenui/Laserworks tips and tricks thread

    Thread Starter: Rodne Gold

Considering a lot of us are going or have gone that direction , I thought it a good idea to combine our knowledge pool in one thread. So I have started one. Those of you that have already posted to other threads can perhaps repeat and consolidate the posts here or at least point to other posts on...

Is CBN simply worth the extra cost?

    Thread Starter: Matt Mackinnon

I knew from the start that getting into woodworking was going to be a very expensive hobby. And even more so when I took up turning. I recently bought a whole lathe setup with a wolverine jig and grinding wheel. The fellow who I bought it from had 2 oneway blue 8" grinding wheels in 54 and 120...

Ok, we need some pictures. While many of you will be using lasers my friend Paul has a Chevalet. This tool was created in the late 1700's for production marquetry. It has a foot activated clamp to hold your stack of veneers and a "D" shaped saw that is held perpendicular to your cut but will move...

cyclone selection-- Onieda, Grizzly, or Penn State

    Thread Starter: Don Jeansonne

I have come the conclusion that I need to upgrade to a cyclone with 3hp min size. I am looking at Onieda V3000, Grizzly G0441, and Penn State 3.5hp. The cost differences are not that mush with Penn State being lowest. I would like to know people's opinions about the pros & cons of these suppliers....

    Pterocarpus Rex drum set

    Thread Starter: Seth Dolcourt

Hi, Creekers, Back for another drum project. This one's gonna be big. And, it will take a while. Pterocarpus is the genus for the market name of padauk, and Pterocarpus Rex is a play on T Rex. This is a collaboration with a guy who will finish, drill and deliver the drums to his own...

Laser Engraving True 8bit Shades of Grey

    Thread Starter: Jeff Woodcock

Hi everyone, I'm new here and this is my first thread and post on this forum. I would like to introduce to everyone a new process me and my son developed to laser engrave true 8bit shades of grey using a 445nm laser diode. There is no dithering a image first, no pulsing or overlapping dots to...

Pros and Cons of Adjustable Mouth vs Fixed Mouth Block Planes

I see your point about more of the curve being able to get into the mouth. When I say smaller footprint, I'm comparing planes like the LN102 and Veritas

Suggestions for cutting duct collector port into cast iron.

I don't think you should cut the cast iron at all, there are a lot of stresses in CI and you never know what will happen when you do.

Where can I buy a Banjo???

If you look around at the drawings of the old Wadkins lathes you will find a tool rest that mounts on the compound tool rest. Might give you some ideas.
