2nd Build (first) - CNC Router

    Thread Starter: David Falkner

Building my 2nd CNC first, I hope. I have been researching for over a year, read a thousand threads and articles, and am hopefully building my 'second machine' for my first. There is still a ton to learn and that process will probably never stop. Of this I am certain, I will be in new territory...

My First Workbench Build - A Journal

    Thread Starter: Eric Schubert

Welcome to my journal thread for my very first major build: a workbench! I plan to add photos and updates as I make progress on the bench build, which may or may not be frequently. It all depends on how it plays out. But, I'm hoping that it'll be a learning experience for both you and me, and...

    What are Your other Hobbies

    Thread Starter: Rich Riddle

Besides woodworking, what are your other "hobbies?" A closely related one to woodworking for me is restoring old woodworking machines (owwm). I tend to restore them for use in the shops or for friends. I also collect inexpensive wrist watches. You won't find any Rolex, Omega, or other expensive...

Setting up New Basement Shop - Need Layout Ideas

    Thread Starter: Duncan Ellis

This is my first post to the forum, although I've been a lurker for the past several months. I've been a hobby fabricator and racecar builder for several years, however recently I've started to develop more interest in adding wood working. I posted a few previous (non-wood projects) below, my...

    MINIMAX FS-35: Planer Speed

    Thread Starter: John TenEyck

Anyone know if the planer speed can be reduced w/o major rebuild? The stock speed is about 30 fpm, and my nearly 4 hp machine bogs down if I try to take off more than about 1/32". This seems rediculous to me. If I could cut the speed in half cut quality would improve and I'd be able to take off...

    Building a J-Class Sailboat

    Thread Starter: Julie Moriarty

While waiting for the egg to hatch (buying a house) I've found myself lost without having something to create. So I decided to build a sailboat. It's going to be a replica of this, except how it looked when first built in 1934: J-Class Endeavour Length - 39.56m / 130ft Beam - 6.80m / 22ft...

refinishing an old table, interesting issues.

Nothing obvious jumps out at me outside of asking whether or not you thoroughly washed off the baking sofa compound before you commenced with your finishing.

Wade, I didn't read through the thread so this might already have been mentioned, but even though that one line was already marked for a neighbors' project,

    Where does gcode start?

I use Mach on my mini CNC and a custom board on our mill at work. On both of those all you have to do is move you x y position to where you want zero
