DIY air filtration unit for <$200

    Thread Starter: Dan Hintz

As payback to the lasering community, I'm sharing my "plans" (such as they are) for everyone to copy. Well, not so much "plans" as pictures of the completed unit, but it should be obvious how to recreate something similar. Due to poor planning on my part and a lack of any real sleep, I made one...

    Cheapest way to flatten chisels?

    Thread Starter: Lasse Hilbrandt

Im in the market for old chisels that needs restoration. I have found out that most of them are not flat on their backs. So far I have been flattening with my Norton wetstones, but it takes a hell of a time and wears a lot on my stones. What is the fastest and cheapest way to flatten them ?

    Clearance in BD plane

    Thread Starter: Patrick Chase

I finally managed to have an honest-to-goodness clearance issue. I've been playing with low-angle frogs in a couple of my smoothers, and had a 40-deg one in my LV custom 4-1/2 last week. I swapped a new blade in while working some Red Alder with a medium cut (several mils, I didn't measure), and...

    Skew irons for wooden planes

    Thread Starter: Oskar Sedell

Hi all, after coming up short when searching the interwebs I'll turn to the expertise here. I'm playing with the idea of building a dedicated wooden shooting plane and a shooting board. With dedicated I mean low angle (35-38 deg bedding), bevel down and a skewed iron. Philly planes has a...

    Junk, junk, junk

    Thread Starter: Bob Glenn

Years ago I bought a cheap 8 inch Delta miter saw. Some years later, the trigger switch quit working. So I decided to upgrade and bought a Hitachi 10 inch miter saw. Recently, the trigger switch has been acting up. Today, the saw would not stop when the trigger was released. I finally got the...

    Options for laser power meters

    Thread Starter: Don Corbeil

Until recently, I thought that the only laser power meter available for testing my 80W CO2 was the synrad power wizard 250. They're pretty expensive, so I was looking around for alternatives. After some thread searches, I see that there are a few choices in both digital and analog metering. A few...

It seems it is more a problem of the relief angle diminishing with wear as opposed to a problem of edge wear as the blade dulls.

I've made a couple out of cherry and oak. Lighter and easier to use. The degree of accuracy of the expensive squares is non-consequential at my level

    Youve got to be kidding

I did pay $65 for a Starret and was happy with it. I still have it and it is superior to other squares I have.

I am in the process of building a 20x24 addition on to my existing 16x24 shop. I am going to install a window airconditioner to cool the new room.
