Jerry, in addition to all the good advice on making sure the poly finish is smooth and cured before buffing, I would also highly suggest using some...

Happy Birthday, Bernie. How is things going? There is a Birthday thread for you over on the off topic board. I keep up with you and looks like you are really getting some stuff done.

  2. Thanks Steve. Had the day off so I decided no work. The LOML is working so I have the woodturning shop going full bore. I have several bowls I just put the first coat of finish on. Hopefully get a couple more finished turning and a coat of finish on them. Have a great weekend Steve.

Hey. I just wanted to let you know the bird houses arrived today. My wife liked them. The inlaws haven't gotten theirs yet. Thanks again and happy new year.

Bernie, I hate to trouble you again. I've been trying to look through past posts, your past posts etc., but can't seem to find the one where you cited a source for larger purchases of CA glue. When you get a moment, could you tell me. Thanks, Hilel.
  6. Hilel I had about the same problem. Got back and jumped right back in my job which had a bunch of problems. Got most of those straightened out. Have been on the road a lot lately so turning time has been limited. I did make time to get the Hold Fast vacuum chuck set up and it works great. Can't wait to give it a real work out. I have made about 2 dozen pens getting ready for a showing in November. If I don't start now I will never get them done. Got the tools from Doug Thompson. Boy are those things great. I also ordered a Tormek T-7 sharpening system. Splurged on it buying both the woodturning kit and the hand tool kit. The LOML said if I am buying it to buy the whole thing so I could sharpen her scissors and kitchen knives to save some money. She hates dull kitchen knives so was paying to have them sharpened. Glad to hear you got back and things are back to normal. We never got to sit much when we were there in VA. Of course when you only get there once a year you want to make the most of it especially when there were 2 birthdays. Well guess I had better get back to work Hilel. Take care my friend. It was good to meet you. I am hoping to retire in a year and a half so maybe we can actually get to spend some turning time together because when we do come down there we won't have to rush doing things and to rush getting home.

    Take care, Bernie

    Bernie,
Finally got back to Columbia. I certainly enjoyed meeting you in person although it was all too brief. I didn't get to do much turning-my daughter came from France with two of her sons, and I was up to my ears in entertaining. When they left, I wound up helping my kids out w/some yard work. Anyway, I hope to do something here. Also, my internet connection went back to snail's pace. Hope you are well. Regards, Hilel.
