    David,

I believe you have a Bacci oscillating mortiser. One came up recently at an attractive price but I can't find much info on the older models, like dimensions and weight. What if any are the drawbacks and what besides wear points should I be wary of? The control box in the ad shows 16A/500V, presumably three phase, which seems high. Is that in the ballpark, and how hard is it to rig up a transformer? I have a 10hp rotary phase converter.

    thanks,
    Kevin Jenness
  2. Sam, If you go to hesswoodwork.com and look under vintage machines, you will find a thread about the complete rebuild of my Oliver 217. Might be helpful, or at least fun. Good luck. PS- the Oliver 116 and the gray y20 are my saws as well. Dave

    Hi David,

Thank you for your response on the 24" Powermatic band saw. Yesterday, I found a Davis and Wells 20" band saw that was in good shape for rebuilding. What you said about quality of components was a concern to me. So I purchased the Davis and Wells for $500. I don't know if that is a good price or not, but I was happy with it. I am going to do a complete rebuild. I also have two Dewalt radial arm saws, one 10" and one 14", that I am going to rebuild.

    Thanks again, Sam
