My test file is a grid of 1/2" squares, 600dpi, 8-bit greyscale in Corel PhotoPaint. I have run this file at varying speeds from 15ipm to 1500ipm, all at 100% power as recommended by Thermark. The results are minimal at best. 300ipm does leave a black mark but it can be scratched off with a fingernail. All other speeds leave a useless very faint grey mark.
Also, the laser does not fire if I bump the test pattern resolution higher than 600dpi (eg: 900, 1200). Thermark recommends 1000dpi, which will not work for some reason.
Any thoughts/advice you might have would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to call me at any time between 9am-4pm at 250-231-6147 if you wish.

    Hi Paul,

My name is Dave Ford, living in Rossland BC Canada. I am a recent owner of a Camtech L-20 25W laser, as I see you are (not so recent I assume). I am having a problem with a small job and am hoping you would be kind enough to share some of your experience with me.

My base material is aluminum plate, 1/8" thick. I have a logo to etch on it in black and gray so am trying Thermark LMM-14 spray. I have prepped the aluminum by buffing with steel wool (workpiece will not be seen up close so minor scratches are not an issue) followed with a rub/rinse with mineral spirits to remove any oils. Then rinsed with water and blown dry. The Thermark was sprayed on in 2 thin coats, allowed to dry in between coats. I believe the material is clean and sprayed quite well.

pt 2 to follow.... message too big for the Creek

    Cheers,
    Dave Ford
