About Lance Granum
- Biography:
- I was born in Fresno California 1961I began woodworking at age 7 my grandfather taught me many basics at age 13 I began woodworking in shop class at Fort Miller junior high school I made many projects my shop teachers told me that I was by far more advanced and they were going to let me build projects to my level in school I continued taking shop classes including wood and metal through high school. In 1979 I joined the United States Marine Corps I did several tours of duty including some overseas in the Philippine Islands’ was a jet mechanic in the Marine Corps and enjoyed working with my hands. in the early 90s I was able to afford lots of tools and began my workshop my friend Daniel Carter and I formed this old workshop.com and did several tool reviews over the years since I have a background in mechanics I understand tool quality and with my background in woodworking and metallurgy I was very well-qualified to do these reviews. 15 years ago I became very active in the wood magazine forum and remained active until about two years ago when I had a major health issue and almost died this year feeling a little healthier and having a great desire to return to my wood shop I joined this forum because it is not a magazine forum i am also allowed to say that i am a writer for this old workshop.com
