Curly Ambrosia Maple HF
I've been busy getting ready for the Symposium. Just finished this piece that will be going with me. My good friend Robin Costelle sent me a big piece of Curly Ambrosia Maple awhile back. I thought about cutting it up into smaller blanks but changed my mind. This was hollowed with my new Carter Hollow Roller system. I do beleive that my d-handle system will soon be on the market. This one measures 6-1/2" dia. x 12" tall, walls about 3/16", and is finished with my 10 minute finish. Critiques/Comments welcome.

Glad you did not cut it up! It's sweet! Especially like the "soft" finish...

Beautiful form and a like the finish as well. Only thing missing is birdseye and then it would have been the Maple Trifecta

That's a lovely piece, Mr. Burns! Nice curves and beautiful wood.

Very pretty Keith. But where's the finial?
-
Beautiful! Great form. It's definitely Symposium-worthy.
-
Beautiful piece of wood and I love the form!
-
I like that you let the wood speak soft finish, lovely shape & pretty wood. A winner

Keith, you do beautiful work!! Having a nice piece of wood doesn't hurt either - Robin certainly provided a nice palette for you. I would love to see a straight on shot of this form. I know everyone talks about tucking the bottom on these vase forms, but for the life of me, I am not totally sold on that. It would be nice to see how you have handled the profile on this one.

What is your 10 minute finish that I have seen referenced a number of times?
-
That is a very pleasing form and a lovely hunk of wood to show off.
-
That's a big curve Keith with my favorite finish! Very well done!

Sweet...
Keith,
A beautiful form, and great piece of wood. I also like the soft finish on that piece, works very well. Wish I were going to symposium and able to see it and other beautiful work.
Enjoy!
