Lathe Gloat Finally!
I finally received the Jet 1642-2hp on Friday evening. Got it moved to the basement (piece by piece) and reassembled Sat. Going to finish running the 230v service today. One question for all who have the Jet, did you end up using the leveling legs? I only ask because my floor is level and it sits good without them. Hopefully, I will be turning soon!

Congrats on getting your new lathe Dale! I have the same model and absolutely love mine! I did use the leveling feet on mine - more to raise the height than anything else.

Great score Dale ! I have the 1442 and used the levelers. (the 1442 and 1642 use the same leg set and bed) If you have a floor jack it sure is easy to add them to see if it is good for you. Congrats, and have a bunch of fun :D

Great looking lathe Dale. I'm sure you're going to really like it.

Nice score. I predict many quality hours ahead.

I just got mine this week as well, I did use the leveling feet, I didn't want the cast iron legs in direct contact with the concrete.
To successfully thread those leveling feet I had to chase the threads with a tap.
Now I am learning to turn, and I am very happy with the Rockler deal I got, I assume you bought from them as well.

Dale congrats. That if a good looking lathe and bandsaw. Enjoy and have fun.

Congrats, looks like Santa came early........:D

Feet
Congrats Dale, you will have a lot of fun with that machine. I did not use the original feet with mine but I got some heavy duty machine feet from Enco and retro fit them-same thread. Much wider diameter with neoprene base. They work very well. I put hex nuts above and below the legs to lock things in place.
