Beautiful work. I like the rabbet joint and have made several small boxes similar to yours. Very nice design and wood selection.

Awesome job, It has the look of Red Gum
-
Great looking box... I also admired the photography. Great job on both.
-
Thanks to each of you for the kind words about the box.
Robert, thanks for the suggestion of Red Gum.
Von, the photos were taken by my neighbor, Dean Davis and I will pass the compliment on to him.

I like it, the grain, shape and handle harmonise very well.

So simple and beautiful. Thanks for sharing it .

I especially like the thin sides and have complete confidence it is strong enough to safely harbor anything lucky enough
to be in it. Too thick sides say "strong box" ,and the bad guys always manage to break 'em open anyway. Grace is good.

I love it: simple but perfectly executed. It really highlights that gorgeous wood. Congratulations!
-
Very nice job. Why did you line the inside of the top? Just for the look?

Thank you all for the kind words.
And Mike, Yes, you are correct... I just like the look when the inside of the top reflects the inside bottom in most instances. The exception is when there is unusual grain pattern showing on the inside of the top.

Very nice, Rich. The wood (whatever it is) is really beautiful. Love what danish oil does to wood. The pegged joint is a nice looking detail. Will have to try that someday. Thanks for sharing.

I also like like this box a lot. The grain is bold yet the finish is subtle and the proportions are eye-catching! Thanks for sharing.
