Best way to bevel intarsia pieces?`

Would someone please post their recommendations for beveling
the edges of intarsia pieces? Adding a slight round to the edge
provides a nice 3D effect but doing that can be a real pain on the
thin or oddly shaped pieces.
Any ideas?

I use a foam sanding block and put something interesting on TV.

1. Inflatable sanding drums.
2. Sanding mop (also known as sanding stars)

If I understand your question, I do it a couple ways - start with thicker stock (particularly edge pieces) and shape as necessary or shim up inner pieces where a shim won't show. In the attached project photo (don't know how well it shows up), the lapels are higher than the coat which in higher than the vest which is higher than the shirt, etc. I do most of my sanding/rounding with an OSS or inflatable drums. For a big project like this, I'll glue parts together with hot hide glue in groups as they are shaped or to to be able to deal with really small pieces. It can still be a PITA. There is no real simple way.
