A friend made this in my workshop. The purpose of making this project was to show him how to make box joints on a table saw. Box is made of 3/8" mahogany and measures 16" x 6" x 8". He used a shop made jig I have.

Great looking box joints. I never could get my home-made jig to give me the results that you have, so I got the Incra I-Box. This works for me......
Great job. What will it be used for?

Great looking box!
Very nice. A simple and classy looking box.
It has been made to learn to make box joints.
He said he may just put tools in it.
Did you make it as a closed box and then cut the top off? If so, you did a good job of spacing the box joints. It looks like the top box joint finger is the same size as the rest of the box joint fingers. When you cut the top off, you lose a bit, maybe 1/8", which makes one or more of the fingers smaller - if you don't adjust the spacing.

Yes we made the box and then cut the lid off, using a band saw. The cut width is only 1/16" with my band saw so this issue did not come up.
