If you switch to the standard (non-mobile) style, they work ok.
To switch to the non-mobile style, scroll to the very bottom of the screen and click on "Full Site"
To switch back to the mobile style, pull down the list at the bottom left of the screen which should say "-vB4 Default Style" and click "Default Mobile Style".

John, thank you - much appreciated (your solution works).
All of my posts used the "manage attachments" pop up to pick photos and display them in the thread as an attached thumbnail. Are they now all gone? Viewing on a PC. Tell me is is not so! Noticed it first on my "tips and tricks" thread which without the photos is virtually useless.
Edit: for some reason by browser slipped into mobile mode. Followed John's suggestion and it went back to the old familiar VBulletin view. I was afraid the new forum engine was implemented without the ability to view thumbnails.
