In the process of doing segmented work, I seem to generate a fair amount of scrap, which I hate to just throw away. So..I just started gluing the pieces together into cubes...and then turn some spheres. Here's the result...about 3" dia.

Awesome! What a great use for scrap. I bet those sell great at craft shows as desk ornaments.
Nice idea, I like them.
Randy, very cool. how do you mount them? Am I correct to assume they are solid?
Ben
That's pretty cool. Have you thought of doing one of those Chinese balls? One inside another.
Cool idea Randy lookin good.
How very neat, Randy. I'd love to see some action shots of you making those.

Nice job. I especially like the one in the middle.
How do you hold these for turning?

Thanks for the comments. They are solid but the center is a 1.5" cube of MDF. The sides are then glued on to get a 3" cube. A couple of pieces of scrap are glued to the ends, then the ball is turned between centers. Then cup chucks are used to hold it while finishing off the ends and sandiing.

Those are kewel!!! A great idea, too, for using up those odds and ends that you just don't want to waste. Nice!
Very cool Randy. What a way to use the scraps. i was going to ask the same question about if you had thought about the Chinese ball?
Those are verrrrrrry cool. Are those pieces scraps or are they simply wood that hasn't decided what it's going to be yet? :)
