I think we should all pitch in and get a collection up for it. Send pieces out to the contributors and let everyone make something and post pics. I think I should get about 50 board feet of it just because I came up with the idea ;)

Talk about major wood!
Don't know what I'd make out of it, but I want one!
Apparently they had just under 1M of them in stock. Or at least that's all they'd let me buy at once.

Anyone got $99.9999B they can loan me? :D
Ancient kauri looks real plain until it's sanded and finished. Then it has chatoyance and depth like you wouldn't believe. I'e turned a few kauri pens, and it looks and turns like basswood, real soft and real plain looking. But then when the finish hits it, it really comes to life.
OK I keep thinking I want to see the saw that milled this stick. My Fiance said the same thing when I showed it to her.
I would buy it, but I don't think it will fit in my shop to acclimate. I guess I would have to buy 2 so I can build a shop big enough out of one.
Time for a bigger jointer.
-Jeff :)
I kinda wonder what Mark Singer would do with a slab like that...
I used to have one of those.
I made it into toothpicks. Lots of em. Really nice toothpicks.
