I may be wrong, but in my opinion, that IS the earth in the distant sky, you can make out the continents...
The pic above is 'artwork', not a photo, so the size relationship shown isn't necessarily correct--
Regardless of all that-- What I find wrong is: the astronaut and the lunar module are casting shadows, but the flag is not...
If you look closely at the flag, you can see shadows in the correct locations from the waves in the flag, especially on the lower right corner of the stars...

This is a photo - not artwork.
That's an interesting point, there are shadows on the flag but done detectable on the ground.
looks like the flag is blowing in the wind
It was designed that way, knowing there was no air on the moon...
Do not know if it was cloth with a wire on top to hold it out or if some other method was used...
Remember them doing it way back in 1969..
yes, I am old
I was visiting my brother in Pennsylvania.
Some things you remember forever...
so yeah, I AM wrong, that IS the moon in the sky ;) --
But yes, while the flag is casting shadows onto itself, it's not casting a shadow on the ground...
HOWEVER- since the moon is obviously photoshopped into the picture, my bet is the flag is too...
Kinda like THIS is ;)
