First Pix Post
After hanging out here for a few weeks, it obvious that you're noe "official" until you've posted a pix of your work. So I'll give it a try.
I am a mixed media craft artist. Although I still consider myself mainly a woodworker a few years ago I explored glass and metal to add interest to my work. The pix here are examples of my mixed media stuff. I make mostly lamps and boxes that are sold to high end craft galleries across the country.
The first shot is an accent lamp made of white oak with steam bend legs and a simple turned center support. The glass starts out as regular window glass that I fuse together while adding color and shape.
The second is a Torchiere lamp made of Ash with hammered copper edges. The glass is fused and bent to shape after color is added.
The third is a simple box made of New Guine Walnut with Wenge splines. I emboss the copper overlay into a pattern that I carve with a Dremel tool using a huge hyd press.
Thanks for looking.

Outstanding, Perry. I hope you keep posting your work here...it's inspiring!

Truly very nice work
I get giddy if I can glue two pieces of wood together. Your lamps look great. Is it difficult to work with glass?

Perry, it's easy to see why your work is sold from the high end galleries - It's gorgeous!
Thanks for posting, I would love to see more of your work.

Perry......Absolutely beautiful! I can see why they are sold at high end galleries! I'm surprised you don't charge for viewing the pictures! Fantastic!

Perry,
Very nice and unusual! Love it!

Wow!
I just make boxes of all sizes and put trim and feet on them...that is truely art. Great stuff, thanks for sharing.

Perry, glad to see you finally got around to reading the unwritten rules! :D The examples of your work are fantastic. I don't mean to detract from your work, but a question about your photos. Did you take the pictures yourself? They certainly are some quality shots to match the quality work. Nice touch!

Yes I took the photos and yes working with glass is fun and a lot like woodworking actually. I just hired a part timer to help with the easier task and have discovered that it is much easier and safer to teach someone to do glass than wood,
Thanks for the kind comments. Some of my work was photographed by a national magazine last week and is suppose to be a part of a feature next month. If it actually happens, I;ll let you know.

Beautiful! The color matching between the different media is outstanding. (The woodworking alone is outstanding.)
