I got my new lathe.
Jet 1442. Other than having trouble getting the faceplate off the first time, it's great.

Congrats Nathan! May it serve you long and well!
Congrats Nathan. Lets get it dirty.
Lots of fun there. Make sure your faceplate is well seated prior to hitting the ON/OFF and you shouldn't have too many problems. Same goes for chucks. Get a couple of strap wrenches to protect you from yourself. One either end of the spindle.
Congradulations! I just got one of those too. You're gonna love the variable speed. It purrrs like a kitten doesn't it?:D
Way to go Nathan-very nice machine. Easily the best machine for the money on the market. But no bias here;) ;) . I'm a Jet Mayo fan bigtime:D . Our club, actually both clubs I belong to have these lathes and I enjoy using them for teaching and demos. Very versatile and user friendly. I hope you get much pleasure from your new lathe
By the way what does "clean up" mean ?
I just got the same lathe too. All I have to do now is learn how to use it.
Nice lathe I second George strap wrenches should be a must have with a lathe.

Nathan, I had trouble getting the faceplate off my lathe until I learned to make me a washer from an old milk jug or like type heavy plastic. Try it and you will solve your problem.
Right now, I'm using a cardboard washer. Saw that tip in one of the wood magazines. I really only had trouble getting it off the first time. When I got it off, the front thread was a little messed up. Cleaned it up with some emery cloth.
Everything works great now.
