Congrats Don! First new tool for the new shop. Jim.
Good deal Don
FWIW - Modern keyless chucks are based on the Albrecht keyless chuck which is a refined version of the keyless chucks found on Eggbeater hand drills. Some of the non Albrecht chucks are difficult to loosen if you are drilling some tough stuff and there is a good deal of torque involved. One of those small strap wrenches does a non damaging job of helping to loosen them in the above situation.
Once you are spoiled by using one of the precision keyless chucks, you will wonder why you took so long to try/use one.
Congratulations Don!
PS, I have several of the small old ones that are threaded for use on Eggbeaters and such and have long threaded on one end cold rolled rod for using when a long bit is needed. Just remember that some of the older models will self loosen if reversed.
And those of you who have trouble with bits slipping in keyed chucks, to tighten them right you should use the chuck key in each of the 3 holes provided to get an even torque on the bit to prevent slipping.
