Coolibah Burl NE/Bowl
This Coolibah Burl measures 9" x 7-1/2" x 4" tall. I wanted to achieve something a little different that would show not only the inside of the burl but the exterior. The top was pretty straight forward but the base was a problem. I turned eight different bases. Tall ones, short ones, fat ones, skinny ones, light wood, dark wood. Anyway the base I ended up with is number nine. The base actually matches the top in color but I couldn't get rid of the shadow. I'm tired of bases and ready to move on. As always your comments are welcome.

Very, very, cool. I googled Coolibah just to see if it was a "wood" or some exotic material. It reminds me sea coral or similar. Looks great.

Kieth.....If you put that up for sale...it won't be around long! Very, very nice! It's also nice to know that other turners don't get things right the first time. I thought I had the patent on that operation!

I don't know what all the other bases were like but that one is about as perfect as I've seen, especially for that bowl. The bowl is a beauty without the base but it really stands out on that base.

Very cool, Keith. It kinda looks like a natural formation of volanic rock or coral. I'd half expect to see some fish swimming around in there.

Keith,
That is AWSOME!!!! I really like the bottom detail. Perfect and very fitting. :D

Wow Keith that is absolutely beautiful. The detail on the bottom is fantastic.

Geez Keith....You're an artist!!!:) I think it's great how the base sorta creates a mirror image of the bowl. Your detail around the rim was a nice touch too. Nicely done!:)

Keith, I love this work. Beautiful cap, great execution, and the perfect choice for a base design.
Two thumbs up!
