Gamble House King Bed
This project began over Christmas break in 2013. I had two weeks off and hoped to build a bed. As always, it turned into a bigger project than I expected. I finally finished it today. A picture is below, but I have a very detailed blog with lots of photos
Enjoy!

That is a nice variation on a classic piece. Your matched panels came out great. Sure to be a treasure.

Thanks! This was based on a design by Darrell Peart. Darrell used to make a queen size version of the bed, which was really spectacular.
Now I just have to build matching furniture for the rest of the house!

Superb work and beautiful material. Looks like lots of m/t joints and square plugs. I am building a twin bed set and finding, like you, that it takes a long time to build a bed.

Nice work, came out beautiful!

That is ridiculously nice, love the crotch figure and G&G style.

What varnish did you use in your home-made finish? It sure looks good on that mahogany. Do you know what variety of mahogany it is?

Stunning. Very well executed.

Thanks, all.
Allen, I used a home-made Danish Oil. 1 part tung oil, 1 part mineral spirits, 1 part spar varnish (gloss). I'm not sure what brand the varnish was, but I'll look.
The mahogany is African Mahogany.
