There is a pretty deep discussion going on right now over on Traditional Tools on Plane Irons. Roger Nixon started in with a study using the Intel QX-3 Microscope doing some analysis of different Stanley replacement irons.
Jim Finnerty and Lyn Mangiameli joined in yesterday with some pretty interesting contributions.
If you're into this stuff, it is one of the best I have ever seen with good references to past information.
