Putting this software in established shops would require them to change the way they do business, which is hard. You can see this in the first response to you post. Also, smaller shops don't need...
Thanks for the hints, everyone!
I'm looking to get some custom pencils to promote my business.
The problem is that none of the suppliers online seem to carry my favorite type of mechanical pencil: the PaperMate ClearPoint...
Yep, you got it.
I'm in Atlanta. Really, anywhere in the US would work for me, but being within inside the radius for 2 day shipping via UPS Ground would be a nice bonus.
Really, I know what's wrong with the laser; I'm just looking for someone to help with this one job for now.
Yes, it is indeed laserable plastic. Johnson Plastics gives it as part LZ901M, "IPI...
I've got a small job for cutting and engraving some 2 layer IPI acrylic plastic. Unfortunately I'm having some trouble with the laser at the moment and would like to find someone with experience with...
Hard to tell from the image, but I would guess that the sign lettering and image was created with a dye sublimation printer.
What kind of cleaner is 'DNA'?
It's probably best to ask an intellectual property lawyer rather than some engravers about this. Here's a page which summarizes some of the relevant cases through 2004:...
I have a problem with engraving acrylic: when I turn on air assist, I get a fine white powder all over the workpiece that's nearly impossible to clean. When I turn off air assist, the part comes out...
Both Inkscape DXF exports are lousy. I use Inkscape's PostScript export, then convert it to a DXF with pstoedit. This technique even gets you DXF splines.
Photos of the inside of the filter box and of the whole thing installed. Notice that I tried to get the heights of the inputs and outputs the same as the things they were connecting to.
Here's a photo of the switch guards for the American DJ switched power strip.
Attached is the new design for the filter. I've got it set up and running now and it's working well with activated carbon from General Carbon so far, though I haven't tried any really smelly or smoky...
I kept accidentally hitting the switches on the American DJ power strip when leaning over the table. This led to me accidentally shutting off important stuff when it was most needed.
To combat...
My biggest headache at the moment is the home switches.
The machine uses microswitches with a metal extension on the end to find its home position along the X and Y axis. The one along the Y axis...
I found the pre-filter material. It's not exactly the same stuff, but the same idea. It's Flanders NaturalAire Cut To Fit, and is available in 24 inch x 36 inch sizes at Home Depot.
It's...
After about 3 hours of cutting the first filter was completely clogged with a fine white powder. Wow. I'm going to have to rethink my filtration scheme a bit.
I've also had some problems keeping...
After an emergency trip to Lowe's to get some masking tape (3M type 2090), my laser is cutting its first paid job from some black acetal.
The new filter box definitely cuts down on the odor. It...
Here's something I found that may be generally useful. It's a power strip that has an individual switch for each outlet. I found it useful for being able to switch the various components (blower,...
Here are some photos of the filter box, in various stages of completion.
Air filters from Home Depot and activated carbon.
It was saved as a R2000 DXF using SolidEdge. Here's an R12 version, also saved from SolidEdge.
The adhesive is still setting on the filter unit and it's all clamped up at the moment. Here's the DXF file to keep you entertained.
It requires a few extra parts:
1. 2 flanges. I bought a...
