Stiles has been great to me. Shipped me a part from Germany air freight to my door for free. Does not get any better than that.
Tech support is always available via phone and is very good.

No, only one direction. The cut quality is superb--very smooth, no sanding required at all. The inserts seam to last forever--the new diamond coating must be working!
What are you using?
Here is my go to rabbetng head:

Love it—use it to size my face frame stock off the rip saw too.

Here is the info for Belfab's dust collectors. The standard and hummer (1750 rpm) are on the same chart. You'll have to scroll down a bit to see.
...
Your reasons not to use them are the reasons I do! Faster and easier to clean than pleated filters.
I made my claims and am done. If you want a quiet dust collector, I showed you the quietiest I...
Have you worked with a high quality industrial bag? You cannot compare hobbiest filter bag collectors to these. They are not your old powermatic or delta bags!
I had the round barrel filters on my...
Nederman S-1000:

Sorry, noise does not equal a good job. Good engineering can significantly quiet a machine. Watch the Nederman video I mention above. 5000 CFM and you can carry on a normal conversation next to it....
If you really want quiet and in the price range of the above—get a Nederman S-series. Very, very quiet and they move a lot of air. You can see them in operation all over IWF and other large trade...
Great shapers. Use a precision straight edge to check the table for dishing and make certain the fence sides are coplanar. These are the extent of the issues I have seen. It is a result of very heavy...
Too bad. Renting is one way to get around the codes as the inspector never comes around unless he has a reason. I was in code violation for 12-years until I built my present shop! If the shops are...
The only firecode requirement I can recall is if your building/shop is above approx 2500 square feet, you need sprinklers or firewall separation within the shop. Woodworking shops need a firewall to...
Need more info. Dust size is not enough unless you have local/state specific codes I am not aware of.
How many square feet is your shop? How large is your building? Sprinkler system—guessing not?...
Love their shapers--what happened to them? Don't see anything on internet searches. It would be nice to know their history.
Thanks,
Greg Stahl
Yes. I had a Felder 900-series saw from 2008-2014 when I replaced it with my current Altendorf F45. I studied the WA80 at Stiles' Grand Rapids training center. It was under power and set-up for use...
I highly recommend Simantech--great family business to work with. I bought a used SLR saw from him several years ago. It was crated and wrapped up better than many new machines I bought. And the...
The WA80 is German. WA6 is Chinese.
My Altendorf weighs about 3000lbs, no concrete—all steel and cast iron.
Can you provide references to Altendorf being outsourced? Altendorf has a very impressive assembly line where they produce the F series and WA80 machines in Germany. If anything, I believe they are...
Sorry, you will not find a late model Martin Slider for that price. I am an Altendorf fan and owner, and the best deal I saw on a late model was $25k at an auction for a 10-year old saw. You will...
And it needs to be fastened to one of the supporting chains as in my picture.
Hi Evan!
What you want is high bay lights. If it is not rated high-bay--do not consider it. These should be installed around 14' or higher from the floor.
I use a 4-light T5 with dual level...
Thought I would share a review of these Husky Work Tables from Home Depot.
Bought two of them the other day at Home Depot. They were marked as a new item. The manager offered me $50 off each as I...
I think I would get a Nederman or Bellfab to run the shop and use the 20HP for widebelt/sanders and maybe the moulder if I could not find a cyclone for it. You are paying for the new dust collector...
Last month was extremely difficult. I did hire a lawyer and boy did I need him. I spent much of the time moving out, my machinery is now scattered across three locations in storage. No income now and...
Things are finally looking up. Survived 57 MPH wind gusts yesterday afternoon and overnight with no damage.
I'm having landlord issues like you did, but I have to move. After 8-years at my current...
