Welcome! And I second the rule on sharpening :)
I think this is the problem. I can either find a bow saw that looks like it is too delicate (Gramercy tools) or a frame saw that is too beefy.
I thought their bow saw was more of a coping saw. Am I wrong?
Not for re-sawing, but cutting out rough patterns and the like. I have been using a coping saw, but that falls apart when you have 1" thick hardwood. Is there a handsaw better suited for quick...
Thanks, but I have one now!
Qualifying items ship free on orders >$99. I can imagine it would ship faster too.

Maybe this is common knowledge, but I found a hand tool dealer in Everett. Craftsman Studio near the Xfinity arena. They are a licensed LN, LV, Two Cherries, (and others) reseller. Prices are the...
Thanks for all the tips! For some reason it never crossed my mind to grind a blade of another type down :p
3/4" would be ideal. I could make do with 1/2 or 5/9
Specifically, a rebate plane iron. (I want to make my own.) eBay is turning up nothing worth paying for. Especially since the starting bids are $15 with $20 shipping. That is just the iron; not the...
You mean the top rail? Yes that is the 3.5" piece I have tenoned into the "legs" as I am calling them.
I think I'll add a small vertical support to the front in the center. The back will have a...
Ok. One divider at 4' should be enough then?
I must be putting something in wrong...
The top will be oak (stained top, painted base. Hence poplar)
96" wide. 20" deep 1" thick. 100pounds centered weight. It says the oak will sag .15 in...
I am making this credenza (https://imgur.com/a/MjEC3) for a friend. It is 8' long and they plan on putting a 50" TV and some decorations on it. (Ignore the doors on the model. They are going to be a...
There is even one for $15 on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000DD2Z8/ref=pd_luc_rh_sbs_02_04_t_img_lh?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have a single AI chisel - 1/4". I picked it up for small dovetail work as my old 1/4" chisel was too thick. I like it so much I am going to slowly buy more
I'm just north of both of you - Seattle area
It is hard to explain, but I can hear when the saw needs sharpened. It starts to make a chattery noise instead of a smooth buzz.
I am the same as you. I get maybe 6-8 hours a week in my shop, and...
Thanks everyone! I'm going to pick it up tomorrow.
And by repaired, I mean by a lay-person :)
A double iron coffin smoother near me for $30, and except for the crack near the iron it is in good condition. The sole looks weird to me, but I think it...
I have been looking at these kits, and I am seriously considering it!
I want a saw 14" long that can cut 3.5" deep.
The woodworker in me wants a custom made saw. The practical dad in me says get the LN. it is half the price, and use the savings to get something...
I have just over 350. Looking these over, I'll probably get a LN and just save the money for another purchase. Thanks everyone!
I'm looking to spend some Christmas money on either a new saw or wooden plane.
Rather than start another "What X should I get" thread, I was wondering if there are any recommendations for USA...
I really don't care if it is used or new. I was just hoping to pick one up for under $100 :)
