I'm in the process of designing a DC system for my 3-car garage "wood shop".
I've got a Delta 50-850, 1200 CFM. It has an input flange with two 4" ports. Underneath the flange, it looks like a 6"...
That goblet is definitely more-than-half full! :D
I agree with Mr. Keeton's suggestion...couple of angled holes in the top and you've got yourself a conversation piece!

What kinds of "turnable" wood species exist in Florida? I see lots of Palms, live oaks, and some other's I can't identify. Usually when I encounter a large pile of logs, it's live oak or palm...

In my experience...when I do my segmented rings, I glue up the rings, and when dry, run them through the drum sander. The sander makes the joints where the segments meet even.
