I paid my dues today (been off the creek for quite awhile tending to other duties).
Sorry to reduce everyone else's odds but the creek is great and a small contribution is worth it.

I had that happen to me with a glock. Fortunately it was just only a little overcharged. The gun did what it was supposed to do and I wasn't hurt at all. I got the gun fixed and shoots great.

Have any of you gone through the process of ordering anything through emachineshop? I first learned about it watching beyond2000 or beyond tomorrow.
I agree with others about using a router instead. As much as I wanted to use the laser for everything, it really comes down to using the right tool for the job.
More tips to us would be good. I haven't tackled a model yet but always thought it would be fun to do.
What kind of wood is the house made of?
Wow. That is really cool.
Count me in.
Do you think it will be X10 or XX?
I used to be on the bleeding edge but now unless there is a real compelling reason to spend the $$ and invest the time in learning, I hold off.
I did several glass awards using the red lasertape, laser, then sandblast. I didn't like the green stuff as it was harder to work with but it is suppose to be a better resist for deeper sand blast. ...
There have been a few other posts about vector cutting/engraving and speed for quality. I have a ULS and absolutely cannot vector engrave at 100% if I want any quality. When I am doing small items...
It is a little time consuming but not impossible to use a see through mask applied to the item and engrave small areas with real low power to match up the location exactly. Then you can engrave...
Those prices are better than what I got. I did what was posted earlier for the pins. Still wasn't the fit I wanted so I went the next step up in thickness for the acrylic and lasered away the...
I have a 60watt laser and cutting leather was not clean. I would get through all but the last part and it would frey. I think the leather was about .25" thick although it is from memory so could be...
Mine is 23-23-39.sf
Sorry Scott, looks like we hijacked your well thought out thread. For those of you reading this, it is good to verify current version of firmware and drivers for your machine...
I am running the same version 1.07M.
George that is interesting as we have the same machine. Larger items I can easily use 10 and not have any squiggles. I don't go any higher than 10 though no matter how large.
If you want to...
David,
I have to slow down my vector engraving to below 10% spd to get no squiggle (technical term) when engraving extreme small text in vector format. I usually like to stay closer to 4% spd...
How thick is that acrylic? That does look cool.
That looks great Keith. CNC is still on my wish list.
Sure you can do that with a laser. I just reach in and hold it at an angle.
I was looking for those little Polyurethane feet to put on the bottom of awards and was curious where the best place to get them. I was looking for the small circular with rounded tops about .25"...
The type of glass really makes a difference also. The test piece I was using was a glass bottle for martini mixer (I happened to finish it off before I started this :) When I got as good as I could...
Please do as I am thinking, not as I'm typing. Or better yet, maybe ignore my posts.
I've corrected my post to reflect the accurate statement by Dan.
I was having trouble with glass engraving and still fine tuning. I first went by the settings in the ULS book and they came out horrible. Another post had the link to a colorfill demo on ULS web site...
I wish you the best.
My day job is also IT and my company has decided that if anyone leaves, they will choose not to replace them. It seems that is the theme for companies who would prefer not...
