I do a fair amount of burning and use the Burnmaster with capacity for 2 pens. I used to use a Detail Master but it died and the company is out of business. I still have some of their pens.

I have the standard bed Sweet 16. I bought it a few years back as a retirement present for myself. I am very space limited in my shop (actually a small bedroom!) and it is perfect for my needs. I...
I have a Sweet 16. My shop is really small and it was the biggest lathe I could fit in it. I have had it about a year and I'm very happy with it. I don't turn anything super large but have done an...
I pretty much did what you're proposing when I got my new lathe. I have been very happy with the setup. Maybe not the most cost effective way to go but I saved a lot of potential frustration.
Bronners has lots of different stands with prices that start at a couple bucks.
I think I have that exact same chuck somewhere in the basement!
I would call Robust and ask them the pros and cons of each alternative. They are very approachable and I think if there was a way to save you money without costing them money (tax or transportation)...
Thanks again everybody! I'm planning to have it dropped and moved into my garage. Once I get a good look at it, I'll finalize my plan. I'll be sure to let everyone know how it goes.

Lots of recommendations! Thanks! I think pneumatic wheels would be a plus. I can see using this on grass and other surfaces that might not like those little hard wheels. At this point, I don't...
Thanks Tim. We don't have a Menard's in the immediate area but I think there is one a ways south of us. I'll check.
I specifically requested that the lathe be shipped in a truck with a power...
OK, help me out here... Can anyone recommend a decent hand truck? I looked at the usual websites (Amazon, HD, Lowes, HF) and it seems that all of the products they sell get mediocre reviews.
Thanks! That was helpful. I actually thought about driving to pick mine up, but it's just too far away.
It's shipped assembled, but I can take off the easily removable pieces (banjo, tailstock, etc.) before moving it.
Curt - I'll look into buying a hand truck. I did look into renting one but buying...
I have a Robust Sweet 16 standard bed lathe on order. If the stars align, I am expecting it to be shipped in the next couple of weeks. I requested that it be shipped to my house. I am expecting...
I have just gone through a similar decision making process. I retired last year and decided that a new lathe would be my personal retirement present. In the end, I decided on a Robust Sweet 16...
They are both durable and comfortable. Also very light weight. I use one of mine as my shop chair.
Very nice. I have built several Windsor chairs and appreciate the time commitment it takes to complete one.
Woodcraft has a 15% off Jet and Powermatic sale coming up. I'm not in the market, so I haven't checked their pricing.
117 for me
I would go with the Vari-Grind. Since you can change the V angle it's a lot more flexible and can do different grinds. I own Packard's version of the Ellsworth jig and after struggling with it for...
Great piece. I love quilted maple.
That's a great looking stool. I need something like that in my shop!
I have a Detail Master Dagger. I've had it for years and it still works, so I can attest to its durability. I haven't tried any of the others so I am not sure how they compare. The downside of...
I've been using my Nova chuck directly on my Conover for the past year with no insert and I haven't had any issues.
Wow - two more people with Conover lathes. I thought I had the only one left!
I have a Supernova 2 that I bought reconditioned off the Nova website. It is threaded 1-1/2" X 8 and can be used on...
