Pencil for scribing, power planer for rough stuff and clean up with a belt sander. Magic eraser in case you get pencil marks on the walls.
Thanks for the replies gents. What you are telling me is that I just need to suck it up and keep moving forward :D. Plus, I learned a few things about staining fence boards!
This is with a power sprayer. I recently got a fuji HVLP system as my first sprayer. Right now I'm on the steep part of the learning curve :)
Good idea with the tack strips. Thanks gentlemen.
Thanks - I'll try this.
Hi, I'm looking for tips on how to finish a lot of boards efficiently.
I'm staining my cedar fence boards before I install the fence in the spring....
I've tried spraying but find that I have...
Wood glue.
Silicone might be too hard to clean up?
1 vote for left tilt. I used to make a long post 'wraps' out of 1x material and found I always had better results with the finished side up as with a left tilt vs the tearout on a right tilt and...
Yes, I know. Just make sure the strip is wide enough so that the drawer glide clears the hinge. Could be an inch-ish..
Make the drawer smaller - i.e. add a fur out strip just underneath the hinge. Use the lower row of screws on the glide to fasten to this strip if the hinge is interfering.
This is truly how...
Hi Elaine. I have a 21x21 garage as my shop and I use a 1.5hp general international with a good filter. I have no idea what the impeller size is. I cut a 6" hole in it and run 6" pipe as a main and...
I have the same issue with 4-5 Makita 18v Li-ion packs. I only have one functioning, but I'm fairly invested in the system with drills, grinder, etc.
Is there anything preventing me from doing a...
Cut a rabbet into the trim piece and your siding tucks behind the trim, and you also get a nice fit to the window.
I'd leave it. I don't think its going to be an issue, given its location.
Or you can try something like this. Much easier than a bowtie and more contemporary:

Apologies for the...
Transits are great for long distances, but lasers can't be beat for in close (depending on the horsepower, of course).
Plus, you usually need two people to read a transit, or just one for a laser....
+1.
Mitre first. Use the same setting on the saw so it's bang on.
Trim later to suit if needed.
Haha! Whoops. Great question tho
I use an 18 gauge Porter Cable that has probably fired half a million nails, with zero issues. (hard use every day for 10 years working as a trim carpenter). I did disable the safety on it though, as...
Drawer boxes don't need to be as strong as they used to - depending on hardware, drawer size, and so on. When I was making commercial millwork years ago we'd staple the drawer together, and I still...
Clearly we have reached the pinnacle of all shop design and after this discussion there should be nothing left.:D :)
I suspect it was the adhesive - especially if you used a lot (less can be more with that stuff)
But as mentioned above - finishing both sides is good practise all the time.
Don't forget to validate the voltage - often industrial equipment is 480v or 575v.
Lee Valley is a Canadian company, and they have all kinds of hardware. Look them up too.
