It's about 3.5 inches off the ground with a wedge underneath it. So I just unlock the lid, pull out the wedge and it drops clear.

I'm using screws just to keep pieces in place as I put together the ducting ( still a work in progress) and then I pull the screws out and do the whole joint and long seam with foil tape.

Yeah it'll definitely be easier to "fix up" the garage than the basement. Even thought it'll be hot in summer and cold in winter. Plus then I can just open up the doors and sweep stuff outside, and...

I think I will ultimately go with the garage. But first I will finish the electrical work and drywall or plywood it.
