If it's connecting, it's working as expected. If it's not connecting, then "No response from engraver. Check if engraver is connected to the correct COM port and switched". You are probably correct...

Thanks for offering your help. It's a Speedy 100R and we've always connected the machine through regular USB. It usually connects, but occasionally it doesn't. Sometimes all it needs is some swearing...

Opened up the machine this morning, checked all the connections we could find and cleaned up a bit. Started JobControl, et voilà: connection established and job cut without any issues!

As Giacomo says, the anodized aluminum engraves beautifully.. Depending on the angle of view it appears either white (brighter than the background) or grey (darker than the bg).

i am in need for some recommendations regarding a two-layerd laser friednly foil that can be kiss-cut and transfered to other materials:
