Ok guys, this issue is going to make me pull my hair out.
I bought a used Jet Xacta Saw Deluxe last fall, and one of the first things I did for it was make a zero clearance insert out of MDF. The...

This past weekend I built a folding outfeed table for my Jet cabinet saw and wanted to share the build pics with you guys. I stole the design from Jim Becker ( http://sawsndust.com/p-outfeed.htm )...
Well guys, I ended up getting a Jet XACTA Saw Deluxe cabinet saw, and I LOVE it. It's amazing how quiet it is, induction motors are where it's at! If only the dust collector were as quiet as the saw!
Well that makes me feel better. Good call on the furniture blankets, I actually have two of those that I picked up recently as my weekly impulse buy from Rockler.
Also, good idea on removing the...
I'm just now upgrading to a cabinet saw (this Sunday in fact), and for the last year I've been cutting up all of my sheet goods with a 50" and 104" clamping straightedge from Rockler ($30 and $52 on...

My local...
The box built for the shop vac includes a Z-vent, since the vacuum obviously needs to expel all the air it sucks in. So that point should be covered, but good catch.
I changed the link to an...
I came across this sound-deadening box for a Shop Vac on FineWoodworking and thought it might work well for my loud air compressor, too. (My workshop is in our townhome garage, so I'm trying to do my...
Guys,
Sorry, I should have clarified....but I'm concerned with the noise because I live in a townhome with neighbors on one wall....not because I don't want to wear hearing protection.
Dustin
Yes -- I live in a townhome end unit, so I have neighbors on one wall. I do my woodworking in our 2-car garage. That's why I'm looking for as close to "quiet" as I can get.

Hi gang,
I have been saving my pennies for a nice table saw and am about ready to make a purchase. I have my choices narrowed down to either a new Powermatic PM2000 or a used Unisaw (~10 years...
